Alpine, Tx-----The 2014 Big Bend Ranch Rodeo is now in the record books.  The August 8th-9th event was full of excitement, sportsmanship and suspense.  The Cowgirl Chicks were great excitement and the cowboys from each team are always amazing showing off their skills.

CONGRATULATIONS to the Angell Ranch from southeastern New Mexico, who came out on top as the Champion Team.  Besides winning cash and prizes, the team wins a bid to the Working Ranch Cowboys Association World Championships held in November in Amarillo, TX.  The Angell Ranch team scored in all five events, placing second in three of them---Team Sorting, Team Doctoring and Wild Cow Milking.
Angell Ranch team members are captain Bill Angell, Chris Price, who was also chosen as the Top Hand of the rodeo, Woodrow Kennedy, Kelley Shay Spears and Seth Boyd.
Grinch, a 7 yr old sorrel gelding ridden by Matt Stockton from the Slash B/Dagger Draw  was named Top Horse.  Blake Estridge from the Rocker b Ranch team was named the Hard Luck Cowboy and the All Around Cowgirl was Leeann Herring from the Turkey Track Ranch.
Placing second was the Myers Cattle Co team from Claude, TX and third place went to the Spires/Hager Ranch team from Snyder, and Knox/Haskell counties.  Fourth Place went to the Slash B/Dagger Draw team from Dexter, NM.

Wrangler Class: 1st Place, Kory Bateman, 2nd Place, Seth Kuehler, 3rd Place, Elizabeth Yeary
Ranch Hand Class:  1st Place, True Burson, 2nd Place, True Burson, 3rd Place, Zack Burson
Cowboy Class:  1st Place Seth Kuehler, 2nd Place Kris Hubbard, 3rd Place, Tyler Weatherford
Jr/Sr Class:  1st Place, Wes Housler, 2nd Place, Will Wallendorf, 3rd Place, Will Wallendorf
 
Youth Working Cowhorse Competition:
Juniors (12 and under):  1st Place, Daylee Seaton, 2nd Place, Gunner Bateman, 3rd Place, Shye Pate
Senior Event (13-17):  1st Place, Dee Oles, 2nd Place,  Riggin Johnson,  3rd Place, Llano Bateman
The winner of each class in this youth competition wins an automatic bid to the Championships in Amarillo.

This rodeo drew great crowds each night, many people traveling long distances to the Ranch Rodeo experience in West Texas.  The rodeo has been supported by many Big Bend community businesses, without whose support this Rodeo would not be possible.  THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us. We have already starting planning for the 2015 Big Bend Ranch Rodeo so, mark your calendar for August 7-8, 2015.  You do not want to miss the fun!
